WrestleMania Goes Hollywood this weekend at SoFi Stadium in Southern California. Here's what to expect during the biggest WWE event of the year.

It is time again for “The Grandest Stage of Them All”WrestleMania 39 is taking place this weekend, April 1-2, in Los Angeles, California. No longer is this a 5-hour spectacle, as the WWE continues its recent trend in making its premier event a two-day extravaganza. As with its other pay-per-views, the company will resolve some critical storylines while bringing in big names – both from wrestling's past and its current celebrities – to draw all eyes to the biggest event of the year.

Seth "Freakin" Rollins vs. Logan Paul

No, you are not mistaken: That is the Logan Paul. Social media superstar and brother to current in-the-news boxer Jake Paul.

If you have not been following the WWE in a while, this may come as a shock to you. However, Logan Paul has had some great matches since debuting with The Miz in a tag team match vs Dominik and Rey Mysterio at last year’s WrestleMania. He had a great showing earlier this year at the Royal Rumble (eliminating Rollins and starting this feud). And he has had two amazing solo appearances, including an Undisputed Championship match vs Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel 2022 that put the Tribal Chief on notice.

However, across from Paul is the visionary, the revolutionary, and probably the hottest superstar not currently holding a title, Seth Rollins. He has had the entire WWE Universe singing his praises – literally – as they chant along to his conduction, and he is usually the highlight of Monday Night Raw on USA Network. However, Rollins has lost at Wrestlemania three years in a row, and now looks to break that “streak” so he can challenge for the Undisputed Championship in the future.

This could easily be the most athletic match of the entire weekend…and a highlight reel for social media.

Bianca Belair vs. Asuka for the WWE Raw Women's Championship

Bianca Belair – The “EST of WWE” – has been running through the Raw women’s division with little to no real challenge since claiming the title at last year’s WrestleMania. Sure, she had some great rivalries with Bailey and Becky Lynch, but with those two in their own feud, it did not look like there was a solid threat to Belair’s year-long reign.

That was until Asuka decided to shift from her jovial and fun persona to something much darker. Anyone who knew of the superstar before her arrival in WWE’s NXT may be aware that deep beneath that facepaint lies something more akin to The Joker than Bozo the Clown. Going by “Kana”, she brought literal terror to the Japanese independent circuit for years. If that is who steps into the ring this weekend, Belair may not be able to claim one “EST”: the “ScariEST”.

Austin Theory vs. John Cena for the United States Championship

“Big match John” steps away from Hollywood to fill his former role. At least it's not a far drive from the studio.

Despite his movie star status, John Cena has proven each year that he still has plenty in the tank, and the blue-chip Theory may have bitten off more than he can chew. John looks in great shape and has never failed to deliver when the lights are shining and his theme song hits – especially at WrestleMania. Going against a superstar who many feel has lucked his way into his titles – and who often botches the opportunities that are handed to him on a silver platter – this should be a cakewalk for the 16-time world champion.

Yet there is a reason that Austin Theory is always in position to take advantage of those opportunities. He has all the skills of a young Cena, but with more arrogance and boldness to back it up. However, as pointed out on Raw a week ago, he seems to lack the heart (or other parts we will not mention) to truly position himself as the alpha of the WWE. Will this match be the ignition that launches Theory into superstar status…or the final nail in the coffin of his floundering career?

Drew McIntyre vs. Gunther vs. Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship

https://www.youtube.com/embed/joEWjP8OG3c

If you went back 10 years and told me that the man known as “Walter” in the European independent scene would change his name to Gunther and become the most dominant Intercontinental Champion of all-time (Sorry, Honky Tonk Man!), and that he would have a vicious rivalry with the “Chosen One” Drew McIntyre of 3MB and the “Too Many Limes” Celtic Warrior Sheamus…well, I would have asked you if you needed to lie down. Yet, here we are in 2023, and these three behemoths will collide in what should be the most brutal match of the weekend.

Gunther, the Ring General and leader of Imperium, brought an aura of power and prestige back to the IC title, laying waste to all who have stepped in his way. Coming in first in the Royal Rumble this year, he outlasted all except the final entrant and eventual winner Cody Rhodes, setting a record time with 1 hour and 11 minutes in the match.

Yet, McIntyre is looking to regain momentum and move into the main event, and his recent successes would point to a great run as IC champ. There is also the fact that the only title to elude Sheamus in his career is the IC title, which would make him a full golden grand champion (having won each of the WWE titles, Tag Titles, US titles, Money in the Bank, and the Royal Rumble).

Can the Scottish Psychopath or the Celtic Warrior work together to remove Gunther from the equation so they have a chance, or will his historic reign continue?

The Usos vs. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships

https://www.youtube.com/embed/BE3Kj7tyCK8

Many people will think this match has been brewing since Sami joined The Bloodline shortly after WrestleMania last year. However, we think this started over a decade ago.

If you look up the term “frenemies” in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Owens and Zayn. These two have been the best of friends and worst of enemies since the dawn of their careers, long before either of them ever joined NXT. This is quite the opposite of the Uso brothers, who have rarely been seen without each other.

However, a tag team match is all about trust, and in this match, who can you trust? The prizefighter Owens, who has never held a tag team title in WWE? Zayn, who has played both sides in the last year? Jey, who turned his back on his tribal chief and refused to attack Sami…only to double-cross him and realign with The Bloodline? Or is it Jimmy, the only staple in The Bloodline, who might be fed up with it all?

The Usos won the SmackDown titles on July 18, 2021, and then unified the titles on May 20, 2022. Could their 600+ day reign end at the hands of their “frenemies”? Order Wrestlemania 39 on Sling this weekend to find out. - Brad Koch
