Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva: How to Stream, Preview and More
Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva Fight Overview
Jake Paul may appear to be one of those celebrities who are famous for being famous, but if his boxing career continues on its current trajectory, fight sports could become his legacy. Paul will attempt to burnish his resume on Saturday, Oct. 29, when he takes on former UFC champ Anderson Silva live on Pay-Per-View. You can order the fight through Sling TV for $59.99; here’s a look at what to expect.

Before we oversell his skills in the ring, it’s important to note that Jake Paul’s competition has included fellow YouTube stars (Deji and AnEsonGib), a former NBA player (Nate Robinson), and long-in-the-tooth MMA stars (Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley). Still, Paul won four of his five professional fights by knockout, including two in the first round.
Those showings earned him the unofficial title of “Best YouTube Boxer,” a qualifier Paul is hoping to move past with a win over Silva. According to DAZN, Paul’s trainer BJ Flores brought in Danny Smith to help him prepare for this fight. Flores credits Smith with helping Paul’s strength and conditioning, and making him “a better athlete as far as getting him stronger and faster.” Paul, too, sounds more confident than ever heading into this fight.
“So many things are clicking with it being my third year of being a professional boxer,” Paul said, according to DAZN. “I’ve improved drastically and exponentially. People are going to see a different fighter in the ring. I think people are going to be shocked. It’s been amazing, and we’ve really caught a stride and a rhythm with the training camp this year.”

Hello Mr. Anderson Silva.

In the other corner, Anderson Silva is also peaking as a boxer. In 2021, he defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. and followed that split-decision win with a first-round knockout of former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. Although Silva is just 3-1 in his boxing career, the Brazilian fighter nicknamed “The Spider” has already notched a historic career in the UFC; holding the UFC Middleweight belt for 2,457 days, Silva has the record for the longest title reign in UFC History.
Silva’s upright fighting style earned him a rep as one of the best strikers in the UFC, a skill that has paid off in the ring. In fact, Silva began his fighting career in boxing in 1998, and earned his first win in the ring in 2005, when he knocked out Julio Cesar De Jesus. Although Silva clearly has the edge when it comes to experience, Paul has one advantage: Age. When the 47-year-old Silva was starting out his career 1998, Jake Paul was just one-year-old.

This weekend’s Pay-Per-View will be produced by SHOWTIME, which just released a new episode of their All Access series featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming fight. Paul, in particular, is fascinating; he's first seen meditating as the episode opens (“I believe there’s a higher power fully guiding my boxing career. What I’m doing for the sport of boxing, the universe wants it to continue”). You can watch that episode on Sling TV with a subscription to SHOWTIME.
