As one of the only people to survive all 11 seasons of The Walking Dead , Daryl Dixon is arguably the most popular character in the franchise. His new spin-off — originally planned as a joint project with Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride), who may join the show at a later date — finds Daryl washing up on the shores of France, with no memory of how he arrived there. As he attempts to piece together the clues, he meets up with a convent of zombie-slaying nuns led by Clémence Poésy, and connects with a young French boy (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) who can help him find his way home. In the behind-the-scenes video above, Reedus claims the show will have, like its predecessor, “heartbreaking moments,” but the French setting allows the show to explore more Eurocentric locations like castles, abbeys, and, chillingly, Paris’ famous catacombs.
After the premiere of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, fans can stick around for a new episode of Ride with Norman Reedus on AMC and AMC+. A docuseries, Ride follows Reedus as he takes epic motorcycle trips around the globe with other motorcycle enthusiasts. Guests who are scheduled to appear this season include Keanu Reeves, Adri Law, Josh Holloway and Johnny Knoxville.

If you watched any of the NYC-set The Walking Dead: Dead City, you know how a unique setting can inject new life into the zombie franchise. On Rotten Tomatoes, where the “Fresh” rating is currently sitting at 79%, critics are already hailing The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon as “easily the best this franchise has been in years,” and “entirely unexpected.” Sounds like a trip to Europe is reinvigorating and delightful, even for the undead.
