Saturday Night Live returns on Oct. 14 for its 49th season, and while the numbers above are undeniably impressive, they reflect only a small part of the show’s history and influence. Simply put, SNL is one of the most iconic TV shows ever made. Depending on your age, the show likely played a significant role in defining your sense of humor. Even if you’ve managed to somehow avoid staying up until 11:30pm ET on Saturdays to watch, you’ve seen former cast members like Bill Murray, Adam Sandler, and Will Ferrell become massive movie stars.

When the new season premieres this weekend, it will feature a former cast member returning to host. Here’s a look at the upcoming season of SNL, plus how to watch it live and on-demand with Sling TV. Pete Davidson, who left the show in 2022, returns on Oct. 14 to host the season 49 premiere. The Bupkis star and tabloid mainstay will host, while rising rap star (and recent Dunkin’ spokeswoman) Ice Spice is set as musical guest. The next week, on Oct. 21, the King of Latin Trap – Bad Bunny – will pull double duty as both host and musical guest, where he’ll perform songs from his new album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana. Those are the only two episodes whose hosts and musical guests we know at the moment, but sure to follow the official Saturday Night Live social accounts to find out who will be appearing on other upcoming episodes.

Who are the new Cast Members?

This season is rather unusual in that, according to NBC, “the entire cast from season 48 is returning” in 2023. That means you can expect to see Michael Che and Colin Jost (who now has the longest tenure of any “Weekend Update” anchor) behind the desk for “Weekend Update”; 20-year vet Kenan Thompson doing his uncanny Steve Harvey impersonation; this decade’s breakout performer Bowen Yang; and other seasoned comics like Mikey Day and Heidi Gardner.

There is just one new addition to the SNL cast this season. Chloe Troast, who is scheduled to appear in the upcoming movie from her fellow SNL castmates Please Don’t Destroy, is the co-creator and star of the 2020 web series The Basics.
