Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
(Multi-Device Streaming)
You can watch Sling on all of your favorite compatible devices, but the number of devices on which content can be watched or 'streamed' at the same time varies based on the service or combined services you're subscribed to.
Sling Orange = 1 Stream
- If you subscribe to our Sling Orange Base service you can watch on one (1) device at a time. Any Extras you add to your Sling Orange service will be included in your single stream.
- Channels ONLY available with a Sling Orange subscription cannot be streamed on multiple devices at the same time, even if subscribed to Sling Orange + Sling Blue.
Sling Blue = 3 Streams
- If you subscribe to our Sling Blue, Sling Latino or Sling International Base services you can watch on up to three (3) devices at the same time. Any Extras you add to your Sling Blue service will be included in your three streams.
Sling Orange + Sling Blue = 4 Streams
- If you subscribe to Sling Orange + Sling Blue, you can watch on up to four (4) devices at the same time. Because you are purchasing two separate services in Sling Orange + Sling Blue, you can get the total number of streams included on each separate service—one stream for any channel on the single-stream Sling Orange service and three streams for channels on the multi-stream Sling Blue service.
- Channels ONLY available with a Sling Orange subscription cannot be streamed on multiple devices at the same time, even if subscribed to Sling Orange + Sling Blue.
Having trouble getting 4 active streams?
We acknowledge that it is difficult to initiate a fourth active stream given the technical complexities of the combined Sling Orange and Sling Blue services. Rest assured, we are working to streamline our packages in a way that will make this less complicated in the future!
- To be able to activate up to four concurrent streams, go to the My Account page and make sure that the "Show only the Sling Blue version for duplicated channels in the guide" box is NOT checked - this will show all channels available with a Sling Blue and Sling Orange subscription, including duplication for channels offered in both
- You will see a Blue guide followed by an Orange guide of channels within the Sling TV app
- Blue guide channels are labeled with three blue dots below the channel name and icon
- Orange guide channels are labeled with one orange dot below the channel name and icon
- Premium Services, Extras, Sling Latino channels, Sling International services and other channels will not have blue or orange dots below the channel name and icon unless those channels are normally included in the Sling Orange or Sling Blue Base service
- You can only stream one channel, on one device at a time when the channel is selected from the Orange guide:
- For example: If you selected A&E from the Orange guide on your Roku device, you would need to select A&E from the Blue guide on any other device to stream A&E on up to three (3) additional devices at the same time. If you were to select A&E from the Orange guide on multiple devices, all but the most current stream would stop.
- Channels ONLY available with a Sling Orange subscription cannot be streamed on multiple devices at the same time, even if subscribed to Sling Orange + Sling Blue.
The example below shows the channel guide separators as they will appear within the Sling app - Rows of Sling Blue channels with follow the Sling Blue separator and rows of Sling Orange channels with follow the Sling Orange separator:
Hiding Duplicated Guide Channels
When Sling Orange (single-stream) and Sling Blue (multi-stream) are purchased together, equivalent channels from both services appear in your programming guide.
- Checking the "Show only the Sling Blue version for duplicated channels in the guide" box shown in the image above will hide the Sling Orange channel duplication in your guide.
- You can stream up to three (3) Sling Blue channels across multiple devices at the same time.
Additional Streaming Information
- If you subscribe to a Premium service, you will receive 3 streams to view the included premium content, but this will not add streams for you to view more than one Sling Orange or three Sling Blue channels at the same time
- An active login to a TV Everywhere website or app counts as 1 active stream until signed out
- On Demand (VOD) content counts as 1 stream for each VOD program being actively watched
- Extras, like Kids Extras and News Extras for example, do not increase the number of available steams included with your base service
