Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler Take on Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau in PGA Tour vs LIV Style Showdown
Four of the biggest names in golf from the two rivaling tours battle it out in a multiformat 18 hole match at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.
The PGA Tour’s Rory McIlroy & Scottie Scheffler will take on LIV’s Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in the first edition of Showdown.
To be blunt, four years ago Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChaumbeau could not stand each other. The two clearly bothered one another and neither were afraid to show it publicly. But life comes at you fast and now the two are no longer part of the PGA Tour, leaving for the Saudi backed LIV tour, and are teaming up to take on Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy in a made for TV event. The winning team will take home a multimillion-dollar pool that will be paid out in cryptocurrency (specifically CRO Cronos, the native token of Crypto.com).
The golf world has been fractured the last couple of years with all of the best players only getting together for the four major tournaments. There have been talks between PGA Tour Enterprises and the PIF (Public Investment Fund) about bringing the tours together, but nothing has been solidified. It’s been tough for golf fans, but it also has created a ‘rivalry’ between the players and the two tours, so it’s only natural that sooner or later a match between the two entities would take place. And in the dead of December, fans could use a little golf action between real professionals (sorry Patrick Mahomes and the other celebrities who participated in The Match). So on a random Tuesday, when there isn’t much else going on, lock in to four of the biggest names in the sport battling it out for their tours, and some crypto currency at one of the prettiest courses in America. Here is everything you need to know.
