The Basketball Tournament (TBT): Schedule, How to Stream, and More

The million dollar TBT basketball tournament is back. Here's the schedule, how to stream on Sling TV, and more.

Imagine playing in a winner-takes-all basketball game for a million dollars. For the 64 teams competing in The Basketball Tournament (TBT), this isn’t a hypothetical, it’s a dream they can achieve with six wins.

TBT returns on Saturday, July 16 with all of the competitive zeal you’d expect from a tournament that rewards its champion with a seven-figure cash prize. For basketball fans, it’s also a chance to watch athletes with college and NBA experience, top pro prospects, and the brightest international stars mix it up on the same court. And we haven’t even mentioned the late-game thrills provided by the Elam Ending, which forces the game to come down to a made shot. As ESPN basketball analyst Seth Greenberg told us, “Everything is earned, nothing is given in the TBT”.

Here’s a look at the upcoming schedule, along with details on how to watch all of the action on Sling TV.

As they have been for the past eight years, the ESPN family of networks will be the home to all TBT games. Most games will air on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPN3, all of which are available with a subscription to Sling Orange, or Sling Orange + Blue. However, select games will be broadcast on ESPNU, which is in the Sports Extra pack. Use the link at the bottom of this page to get Sling Orange with ESPN, and be sure to add the Sports Extras pack for complete TBT action.

Schedule

This year’s tournament will be spread across eight different locations: Omaha, Rucker Park in Harlem, Xavier University, Albuquerque, Wichita, Syracuse, West Virginia, and Dayton, which will also host the Quarterfinals, Semis, and Championship. Unlike the NCAA Tournament, each region will play its three rounds at staggered intervals. The Omaha and Rucker Park regionals begin on July 16, followed by the Xavier and New Mexico regionals on July 18, then the Wichita and Syracuse regionals on July 22, and finally the West Virginia and Dayton regionals, which tip-off on July 24. Quarterfinal games will be played on July 28-29, with the Semis on Saturday, July 30 and the Championship on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Here’s the schedule for the Omaha, Rucker Park, Xavier, and New Mexico regions, along with the full bracket.
