Brace for 'Collision': AEW Launches New Saturday Show on TNT

With the launch of the new Saturday show 'Collision' on TNT, AEW continues its wrestling takeover. Here's what to know.

If we have one complaint about All Elite Wrestling, it's that the roster is so deep and talented that there just isn't enough TV time to go around. Tony Khan and his partners at TNT must have been aware of that limitation, because the solution arrives this weekend: AEW Collision, airing Saturdays at 8pm ET on TNT!

Wrestling has a long history with Saturday programming, from Saturday Night’s Main Event to WCW Saturday Night. Now AEW plans to reignite that tradition with the debut episode of Collision, featuring stars such as Miro, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, Andrade El Idolo, Thunder Rosa, and of course, the returning CM Punk (the debut episode is in Chicago after all). Before the opening bell rings on June 17, we were lucky to catch up with two of the stars of Collision (and two former champions): Powerhouse Hobbs and a returning Thunder Rosa. Sling: AEW's other shows, Dynamite and Rampage, each have their own feel and presentation. What should fans expect to see on their screens on Saturday?

Thunder Rosa: You know what’s funny, everyone has been asking that question. Everybody in the dirtsheets, they want to know. Everyone in the news, they want know. This is a time where you need to be a fan and just watch the show to see what is going to happen. You know it is going to be action-packed, you know there is going to be big characters, big returns. I mean CM Punk is coming back and everyone is like, "what is he going to say?" 8/ 7 central, just watch it!

Sling: Saturday Night Wrestling has a long history. What does it mean to both of you to write a new chapter in weekend wrestling?

Powerhouse Hobbs: I mean wrestling hasn’t been on Saturday nights on TNT in over 20 years, and Thunder and myself get to headline it with other names. That right there speaks for itself. We were talking earlier, we actually get to put our stamp on the first Collision. We areforerunners and that’s something to be proud of.

TR: And I think in the locker room overall, people are very excited. In talking to Andrade, he is one of them who is excited to be back with something new. Miro, who you haven’t seen for a while. CM Punk we mentioned, Samoa Jo, and many others. They are very excited to see what’s new. You are going to see a lot of tradition in Collision. I foresee that in the future.

PH: Going back to those programs that used to air on Saturday night, you got to see more wrestling, more storylines, and that is what I feel we will bring to the table on Saturdays.
