Thanks to a big third quarter, the Georgia Bulldogs overcame a valiant effort from the Missouri Tigers last week, winning 30-21 in Athens. Georgia has taken a lot of heat for their vanilla schedule this season, but it’s starting to ramp up as they welcome Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss between the hedges on Saturday. Does Ole Miss have enough to beat Georgia? Well, this is the slimmest margin the bookmakers have given the Dawgs this year, with Kirby Smart’s team laying 10.5 points to Ole Miss. These two teams haven’t played each other since 2016, when Hugh Freeze’s Ole Miss team actually came out on top in Kirby Smart’s first year coaching Georgia. Now the former Alabama assistants who worked together under Nick Saban meet for the first time as head coaches.

Ole Miss has been on fire since their loss against Alabama in September, and they have a capable offense that just scored 38-points on Texas A&M, a top 15 defense. Ole Miss suffered tough news this week as they will be without starting OL Micah Pettus, who sustained a foot injury in practice this week. That’s a big blow to the Rebs, as Quarterback Jaxson Dart will need to have the game of his life and hope that his defense can contain Carson Beck and the Bulldogs offense. Running Back Quinshon Judkins is coming off of three straight 100-yard performances and will need to have success against a Georgia defense that is actually ranked a modest 33rd in the country in rushing defense, lower than their fans are accustomed to. But a big win like this has avoided Lane Kiffin during his time in Oxford, and bucking that trend in Athens would be a monumental achievement. According to Mississippi Today, this is the biggest and most meaningful game for Ole Miss in 20 years.
