4 Things to Watch During the Magnolia Network 4-Day Free Preview on Sling
From Feb. 16-19, Sling customers can watch Magnolia Network, normally included in the Lifestyle Extra package, for free!
If there was any doubt as to whether Chip and Joanna Gaines could conquer television for the second time, think again.
Magnolia Network, a television venture between the Gaineses and Discovery, Inc., launched as a rebranded DIY Network earlier this year and has been a huge success. According to TheWrap, the premiere of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home on January 5th was watched by more than 1.7 million viewers, a near 400% improvement over DIY’s 2021 primetime average.
While Chip and Joanna might be the big draw, there are more than 40 other shows available to watch on the channel. Try it out with a free preview of Magnolia Network from Feb. 16-19. That’s four days to binge the best shows that Magnolia has to offer, and we’ve got a list to help you start!
Fixer Upper: Welcome Home

The original Fixer Upper premiered on HGTV in 2013 and was a smash hit - viewers couldn’t get enough of Joanna’s farmhouse-chic style and Chip’s goofy antics. But, to everyone’s surprise, the Gaineses stopped the show after five seasons in 2018, citing a desire to focus on their expanding family and other business ventures (one of which would later become Magnolia Network).
After a few years of rest and rejuvenation, Fixer Upper: Welcome Home picks up right where Chip and Jo left off. It’s neither a spinoff nor a reboot - rather, it’s a continuation of the stories and renovations that captivated viewers and made them fall in love with the Gaineses and Waco in the first place. Looking for new cutting-edge design tips from Joanna or need some comedic relief from Chip? Fixer Upper: Welcome Home fits the bill.
Restoration Road with Clint Harp

Carpenter Clint Harp, who rose to prominence as a business friend of the Gaineses in the aforementioned Fixer Upper, travels around the country and looks for historical structures that need to be rehabilitated in Restoration Road. Some of his projects include old barns, buildings, a covered bridge, and even a train car. Best of all, Clint doesn’t simply show up and start renovating - he gives viewers the history behind each structure and the town, why it was built, the materials used, and how he’s going to help revive each building while keeping its soul intact ("half carpentry, half detective-work" in Clint's words). This deeper dive into the stories behind the construction have already made Restoration Road a fan favorite.
Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines

While the Gaineses are known for their home remodeling and renovations, Joanna has quite the history of diving into the kitchen and sharing her love of cooking. She’s released multiple cookbooks and Magnolia Table has been streaming online for over a year now. Asked why she dabbles in the kitchen as an amateur chef, Joanna replied, “[food] bolsters our traditions and it maintains our fondest memories and our notion of home and family...[it] can bring you back to a specific moment in time.” So while there won’t be any sledgehammers breaking down old countertops or emotional curbside house reveals on this program, Magnolia Table still fits in perfectly with the network’s focus on family, home, and storytelling. The show has been renewed for a sixth season according to Deadline.
Maine Cabin Masters

A transplant from the DIY Network days, Maine Cabin Masters is on its seventh season and has its own strong following among home renovation lovers. According to a press release, “builder Chase Morrill teams up with his sister, brother-in-law, and best friend to save rundown cabins buried deep in the remote woods of Maine. The dynamic foursome gives these dilapidated properties the facelift they have needed for decades.” The catch? The team has to renovate neglected residences in the northeastern backwoods of the US to not only accommodate Maine’s breezy summers but also withstand its brutal winters. Pile on a homeowner’s unrealistic wishlist and stringent budget and you have the ingredients for why Maine Cabin Masters is so interesting to watch.
