Grammy-winner Sheryl Crow will perform a concert on main street; reality stars Eddie Jackson (Food Network and Cooking Channel Host) and Randy Fenoli (TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress) will pitch in to help; and popular HGTV stars Tamara Day (Bargain Mansions); Steve Ford (Home Again with the Fords); Wendell Holland (Hot Mess House); Dave and Jenny Marrs (Fixer to Fabulous); Ty Pennington (Rock the Block); Jasmine Roth (Help! I Wrecked My House); Mina Starsiak Hawk (Good Bones); and Jon-Pierre and Mary Tjon-Joe-Pin (Two Steps Home) will also lend their expertise.
After getting submissions from over 2,600 towns across the country, the producers settled on Wetumpka because, “despite hardships, natural disasters and unexpected setbacks, the community’s undying spirit and resilience showed that they were ready to kickstart a comeback with HGTV’s help.”
The season premiere will find the Napiers and Marrs completing a “home renovation for a loving foster family, and the owner of a struggling fashion boutique will get a fresh design to take her business into the future.” Over the course of the season, How Town Takeover will feature, “12 major renovations all over Wetumpka, including restaurants, shops, historic homes, public spaces, a new farmers’ market—and even an entire downtown street—with the goal that the impact will ripple through the community for generations to come.”
HGTV is also premiering a pair of digital series to give viewers an even closer look at the show. Road to the Takeover premiered Sunday, as host Jason Pickens gives viewers a first look at the town of Wetumpka and previews a few of the featured renovations. And the day after the premiere, Monday May 3, viewers can check out new series Tales from the Takeover, in which Jason gets Ben and Erin’s take on each episode. Both series will be available to watch on HGTV’s Facebook and IGTV pages.
