'Common Side Effects' Renewed for Season 2 Ahead of Finale

Season 1 of ‘Common Side Effects’ may be wrapping up, but there’s good news for adult animation fans hooked on the newest Adult Swim hit.

Common Side Effects has been renewed for a second season on Adult Swim. Symptoms may include joy, laughter, and intrigue.

The hit adult animation series got the green light for its second season just a few days ahead of the season 1 finale on Sunday, March 30 at 11:30pm ET. Created by Joe Bennett (Scavengers Reign) and Steve Hely (Veep) and executive produced by King of the Hill’s Greg Daniels and Mike Judge (who also has a role on the show), Common Side Effects centers on “Marshall and Frances, two former high school lab partners who share a secret: Marshall has discovered the world’s greatest medicine, a mushroom that can heal almost anything. But getting it out into the world won’t be easy – the DEA, big pharma, and international businessmen are all on the chase to stop them.”

“We are grateful for the enthusiastic response to Common Side Effects and are thrilled to continue exploring this world with our amazing team and the fans who have embraced the show,” co-creators Bennett and Hely said in a press release announcing the second season. “The opportunity to push the boundaries of animation and storytelling on Adult Swim is like a wonderful mushroom dream. Our goal with the show is to transform planet Earth and restore the human spirit. For now, we will settle for a second season.”
