Score Big With These New Product Features on Sling TV

With the college basketball tournaments about to tip off, Sling TV is adding three new features sports fans will love.

NCAA® March Madness® tips off this week, and it’s arguably the best event on the sports calendar. With 32 games in the tournament’s first two days, sports fans can gorge on the excitement from the first tip in the afternoon through the final late-night buzzer beater.

Given the tournament’s unique schedule, many college basketball fans will be watching at least some of the First Round action from their office desks. Sling TV has great news for those people: We’re launching a host of new product features this week that will allow you to stay connected to the games even while you work. Here’s a look at three new Sling product features you’ll want to use during March Madness. Enhanced Sports Scores

As much as we wish that every matchup could come down to the final moments, not every game is a winner. So to help you find the most competitive games, we’ve enhanced our live sports scores feature*.

In addition to our previously released vertical sports scores (also pictured above and now available on all major devices), the home page of the Sling TV app will feature a dedicated row with live scores, enabling users to check all of the live matchups and jump to the most competitive games. To switch games, just highlight the score of the game you’d like to see and click the “select button” to start watching!

*Enhanced sports scores may not be available on all devices.

Picture-in-Picture on Browser

Watching March Madness on the sly while at work is a college basketball tradition as time-tested as “One Shining Moment.” For these office workers, Sling has designed a brand new feature that allows you to stay productive at the office, while never missing a moment of the action.

Sling users watching on a desktop browser can use our new Side View feature, which creates a Picture-in-Picture window that allows them to open other windows, tabs, and applications while a dedicated live stream continues to play. To launch the Side Stream feature, click the button that says, "Browse your computer while watching video," in the top right corner of the player to launch the pop out window. The new player can be moved and will remain on top of whatever page or application you have open.

New iOS Widget

Lastly, Sling recognizes that many of our users will use their smartphones and tablets to stay close to all of the action. That’s why we developed an iOS Widget that lets iPhone users check in on their favorite games without ever leaving the home screen (requires iOS 16 or higher, as well as the newest version of the Sling app).

To try out the widget, navigate to the widget panel from the home screen (swipe all the way to the leftmost screen), and click the “Edit” button, followed by the “+” button. When the “Search Bar” opens, type in “Sling” and select the Sling TV app. From there, you should have five different style options; choose either the “2 Row” or “4 Row” option to view your guide, then tap the “Add Widget” button at the bottom.

To set up a guide that displays the channels with March Madness – TBS, TNT, and truTV for the Men’s Tournament, ESPN for the Women’s – tap your new Sling widget, enter “Edit Mode,” then search for the channels you want to see in your guide. Keep in mind, you can now create widget stacks, so you can also add new stacks featuring other channels by repeating the steps above. Check out the GIF below to see each step.
