Since launching 10 years ago, Sling has always been focused on finding new ways to deliver for our customers. Whether adding an Arcade to our app, Sling Rewards rewarding users with cash and prizes for watching their favorite shows, or updating our video player based on user feedback, we’re constantly striving to improve (call us mature for our age). With the recent launch of a host of new features – now available on most Roku devices and rolling out to other devices throughout 2025 – we’ve made updates that make the user experience even easier, allowing you to effortlessly browse content, record your favorite shows, and switch between channels in a flash. Here’s a look at our new features and how to use them.

Sling’s New Features

We’re excited to introduce a revamped video player built with your convenience in mind. Whether you’re browsing channels, recording shows, or watching an entire season in one sitting, Sling makes it easy.

Resume or Restart Watching

Start where you left off or watch from the beginning—it’s up to you with the new Resume or Restart Watching feature.

How to access this feature: If the option is available, you’ll see the choice to resume playback from where you left off or start from the beginning at the bottom of the screen when you launch your program.

Effortless Browsing, Your Way

Switch between channels and explore content in no time. With the Recent/Favorite Channels and the More Like This features, you’ll always find something worth watching, quickly and easily.

How to access this feature: Both tabs are located just below the progress bar.

Easy Access to All Available Episodes

Binge watching just got a whole lot easier. Access Every Episode of every season available on Sling directly from the controls, no extra steps.

How to access this feature: You can access the “Episodes” tab through the player controls.

Instant Channel Recall

Not feeling the show you just switched to? The Channel Recall feature on our new video player allows you to effortlessly return to your previous channel.

How to access this feature: Press and hold the “OK” button on your remote to go back to the channel you were just watching.

Flexible Recording Options

Schedule and Manage Recordings right from the player so you can watch your favorite games, shows, or movies on your own time.

How to access this feature: Find these options right below the progress bar for seamless control.

Stay Connected While Watching

With the new Browse and Watch feature, you can check live sports scores, browse other content, or access additional features—all without pausing what you’re watching.

How to access this feature: Press the “UP” button on your remote to open the Browse and Watch menu.

Channel Surfing For Streaming

Watch TV like you always used to with our new Channel Surfing feature! Easily switch between channels without accessing the guide.

How to access this feature: From the Browse and Watch menu, select the “Channel Surfing” box to launch a list of your available channels.
